Agora Microfinance Zambia wins big at Zambia’s National Banking and Finance Awards 2025

Livingstone, Zambia – September 12, 2025 – At this year’s National Banking and Finance Awards, held in the scenic city of Livingstone, Agora Microfinance Zambia (AMZ) emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners. Hosted by the Zambian Institute of Banking and Financial Services (ZIBFS), the awards ceremony celebrated innovation, customer service, and leadership in the financial sector.
For AMZ, the evening brought not just one, but three distinguished honors:
- Best NBFI Customer Service
- Best NBFI Digital Brand of the Year
- Financial Inclusion – Rural Aspect (NBFI)
These awards, determined by both jury deliberations and public votes, underscored AMZ’s commitment to its clients and its reputation as a pioneer in inclusive finance.

Accepting the awards, AMZ CEO Susan Chibanga reflected on the organization’s journey and purpose.
“Financial inclusion is only real when it reaches the most remote corners of Zambia, and that is where AMZ is deeply rooted.”
“We are deliberate about using technology to advance financial inclusion, ensuring that even the remotest client can access financial services.”
Since its establishment in 2012, AMZ has carved out a unique place in Zambia’s financial landscape. With 40 branches, 8 satellite outlets, over 500 staff, and more than 140,000 clients—most of whom live in rural Zambia—AMZ is more than just a financial institution; it’s a lifeline for communities often overlooked by mainstream providers.
For over a decade, AMZ has proven that sustainable growth is possible when an institution prioritizes inclusion over convenience. By going where others don’t, AMZ has ensured that farmers, small business owners, and families in rural areas can access the financial tools they need to thrive.

The atmosphere in Livingstone during the awards night was one of celebration and recognition. AMZ’s team, beaming with pride as they collected their trophies, represented not just their institution, but also the thousands of Zambians whose lives have been positively impacted by their services.
Their triple victory marks a milestone not just for AMZ, but for the broader financial inclusion movement in Zambia. It is a reminder that finance, when coupled with vision and dedication, can transform lives in even the most remote corners of the country.
