AMNV welcomes Maya Mungra to the Supervisory Board
AMNV is very pleased to welcome Maya as a new member of the Supervisory Board in October 2019. Maya has over 20 years of experience in audit, finance, corporate governance, risk management and compliance. She has held several senior management positions in the financial services and impact finance.
Maya holds a master’s degree in economics and a post master’s degree ‘Registeraccountant’, of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, as well as professional qualifications as certified internal auditor and certified fraud examiner.
Maya has also served on the board of the Micro Insurance Association Netherlands and on the advisory board of Oikocredit’s Dutch support association. She is currently a trustee board member and chair of the finance, and audit committee of FrontlineAids, a UK-based international NGO and serves on the Supervisory Board of Oikocredit International.
Speaking to Maya, she said that ” Living and working in developing countries, made me aware of the importance of access to the financial system for the well-being of those who need it most as well as for the development of their countries and global prosperity. I have learnt from my activities in the inclusive finance industry that my true passion is to contribute to a world where all human beings have a fair chance to develop themselves both socially and economically.
The mission of Agora Microfinance, management’s great knowledge of the circumstances in the countries of operation, the strong focus on client needs as well as the commitment to foster solid, independent financial institutions that facilitate growth and empower people to live a life of dignity, are particularly appealing to me. I therefore consider it an honour to have been given the opportunity to serve on the Supervisory Board and hope to be of added value to the organisation and to contribute to the wonderful mission of Agora.”
Welcoming Maya’s appointment, Supervisory Board member Tanmay Chetan said that “We could not be happier to have found just the right person to guide Agora’s next stage of development. Maya’s wide ranging experience in financial inclusion, insurance and risk management provides an ideal skill-set, further strengthened by her rich governance experiences. Most importantly, we were looking for deep passion for the cause and I am very glad that we find Maya so well aligned with Agora’s mission.”
