Agora Microfinance
Agora Microfinance was created in 2009 and began operations in 2011 after 2 years of initial research and preparatory work. Agora Microfinance N.V. is incorporated in the Netherlands as a holding company. Moringaway is an investment company that is domiciled in Mauritius. The investment companies are advised by Agora Microfinance Partners LLP, based in the United Kingdom.

Gerhard Bruckermann
Co-Founder & Member, Supervisory Board
Gerhard is one of the principal founders of Agora and its anchor investor.
Gerhard is a retired banker with 35 years of experience and currently pursues private investments, mainly in the fields of microfinance and solar farming. He retired as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the CEO of DEPFA Bank plc, Dublin in October 2000. He joined the management board of the group in 1991 and as its spokesman since 2000. Gerhard previously held senior positions in the capital markets division of Deutsche Bank AG and Westdeutsche Landesbank. Prior to 1977, Gerhard spent 2 years as a Junior Barrister at the Supreme Court in Berlin.
Tanmay Chetan
Co-Founder & Member, Supervisory Board
Tanmay is one of the founding promoters of Agora and oversees its operations as the Group CEO. In his current role, he manages the equity investments (Chair of Boards of investees) and handles the Advisory Company as its Managing Partner. His additional roles include Chairing the Supervisory Board of AMNV.
In his role, Tanmay focuses mainly on the development and execution of strategy at different levels of the structure. He brings considerable prior experience in microfinance operations, consulting, and ratings.
Tanmay has worked in microfinance for over two decades, with his previous work including credit ratings, consulting, investment management, and implementation. He has been engaged with Agora since 2008, from its conceptualization to its present form.
Maya Mungra
Independent Member, Supervisory Board
Maya has over 25 years of experience in audit, finance, corporate governance, risk management, and compliance. She has held several senior-level positions in financial services and impact finance industry.
She is currently the Chief Audit Executive at a tier-one health insurance company in the Netherlands. Furthermore, she serves as a counsellor at the Royal Netherlands Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a Member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee of Frontline AIDS, a UK-based INGO.
Rens Van Hoof
Managing Director
Rens is an experienced Executive Director with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in business development. Furthermore, Rens has over 25 years of management experience in multiple disciplines of financial services. Good knowledge of private equity, investment funds, capital markets, and microfinance.
Rens has been on the management board of Agora Microfinance N.V. since 2012.
Rens holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics, and in his free time, he plays field hockey and is interested in reading, (classic) sports cars, and politics.
Moringaway
Tanmay Chetan
Non-Executive Director, Moringaway
Tanmay is one of the founding promoters of Agora, and oversees its operations as the Group CEO. Moammar Reyaz Tegally
Non-Executive Director, Moringaway
Reyaz holds an LL.M. in International Commercial Law from the University of Kent. He has been in the Mauritian financial services sector for over 20 years. Throughout his career, he has worked across various departments such as Operations, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, and Internal Control.
Ahmed Mooneer Salehmohamed
Non-Executive Director, Moringaway
Mooneer is a qualified Barrister in England and Wales, as well as Mauritius. Prior to joining MATCO, Mooneer worked in the financial services industry in the UK for over 10 years, where he built up his experience within the Asset Management sector at Fleming Family & Partners, Newton Investment Management (a subsidiary of BNY Mellon), and Eaton Vance Management (International) Limited.
Mooneer has also recently completed his Managerial Finance certificate course with the London School of Economics (LSE) in the UK.

Roanna Peat
Chief Financial Officer
Roanna is responsible for the financial control of AMNV as its Managing Director. She is also the CEO of Moringaway, Agora debt facility. She has been with Agora since 2017 and is based in the Netherlands.
She brings many years of international experience across a range of industries, including Financial Services, Oil & Gas, Energy, and Real Estate.
Roanna is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand and holds a Bachelor’s in Accounting and Economics and a Diploma for Graduates from the University of Otago, New Zealand.
Jitske Cnossen
Chief Operating Officer
Jitske has been a member of Agora’s team since 2019, serving as a director of the Board in Zambia. In February 2023, Jitske was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer for the Group. In this capacity, she will lead Agora’s expansion in the Southern African region, while also providing support in other areas of work within the Group.
She brings considerable experience of financial inclusion in Africa. In the past she has worked in various roles with the Dutch Development Bank (FMO) including as an Investment Officer for Africa.
